Community members are invited to an open house on December 5 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at City Hall to learn about the proposed Riverwalk Trail and road designs at SE River Street and Park Avenue SE.Project designers Northwest Hydraulic Consultants (NHC) and the Berger Partnership, along with City staff, will present designs and receive public input. A short presentation begins at 7 p.m., and light refreshments will be served. The open house provides an opportunity to review conceptual designs under consideration that would affect roadway configurations, trail options, and bank stabilization efforts at the SE River Street and Park Avenue SE intersection. Three road and trail design options will be viewed:
- Retain existing two-lane road configuration; or
- Revise intersection to a one-lane road; or
- Close the road to vehicles and transition to a pedestrian-only throughway.
City staff, NHC, and the Berger Partnership will work to finalize project designs with stakeholders throughout 2020, with construction projected to begin during the spring of 2021.
Bank stabilization project elements are funded by the King County Flood Control District.
