In May, the City and the Snoqualmie Arts Commission put out a call for artists to submit original artwork for new streetlight pole banners. This past week, those new wildlife-focused banners debuted across Snoqualmie.
The original work of artist Susan Hass was selected by the Snoqualmie Arts Commission. Susan’s artform is called relief painting, which gives the effect of the painting being raised from the solid background. The four paintings selected feature an owl, a chickadee, a woodpecker and a fox.
This was the first time the Snoqualmie Arts Commission sent out a call for artists. The four new banners created from the artwork of Susan Hass will become part of the City’s light pole banner rotation. Currently, the City’s banners are changed 3–4 times per year.
"We’re excited to feature the artwork of Susan Hass," said Snoqualmie Arts Commission Staff Liaison Nicole Wiebe. “The commission found Susan’s wildlife submissions colorful and full of life. We hope the community enjoys this new art installation as they drive and stroll through the City.”
