City of Snoqualmie Joins the Eastside Census Challenge
Snoqualmie, WA – In a friendly rivalry, the City of Snoqualmie has joined the cities of Issaquah, Redmond, and Sammamish in an Eastside Census Challenge. The challenge has two goals: to raise resident response rates from the 2010 Census for each city by 5 percent, and to see which city can achieve the highest overall survey response rate to the 2020 Census by October 31.
To track progress, the U.S. Census Bureau is showing self-response rates across the nation in their online response rate map, which is updated daily. Currently, Snoqualmie has a 68.9% response rate. Let’s all fill out our census forms right now and win!
Achieving a high response rate has several benefits for our community, from federal resources and representation to requiring fewer census takers walking door-to-door (limiting health risk). Communities are encouraged to respond early to eliminate or reduce the need for door-to-door census takers.
It has never been easier to respond to the 2020 Census within the safety of your home -- whether online, over the phone, or by mail. Your responses are kept confidential by law.
During this difficult time, participating in the Eastside Census Challenge gives our community a chance to come together in completing the 2020 Census and encouraging our neighbors, friends, and family to do the same.
