In June, the City of Snoqualmie completed a comprehensive, random-sample survey of residents to measure multiple facets of community livability, including quality of life, safety, natural environment, health and wellness, inclusivity and engagement, utilities, the economy, and more. The survey was done in conjunction with the development of the City’s first strategic plan, and the results will help shape the plan’s initiatives and goals to align with the community’s top priorities.
Enlisting the services of independent survey consultant, Polco, Inc., and utilizing the National Community Survey (NCS), 3,000 invitations were mailed to randomly selected Snoqualmie households with options to take the survey online with a provided link or via a mailed paper survey.
The 2025 Community Survey was conducted from May 19–June 30, 2025, with 363 households participating. The participation rate resulted in a 95% confidence interval with a +/- 5% margin of error for the results.
Key survey findings showed Snoqualmie residents applaud their overall quality of life; consistently feel secure and protected; and enjoy access to nature and recreational amenities. The survey also identified the Snoqualmie economy and transportation and mobility as areas for additional focus and/or improvement.
The results were measured against more than 500 comparison communities across the country. They were also benchmarked against a custom subset of neighboring cities like Sammamish, Issaquah, Woodinville, North Bend, and others. When compared to national benchmarks, Snoqualmie received 40 higher ratings, 78 similar ratings, and 5 lower ratings. When compared to the custom benchmarks, Snoqualmie received 47 higher ratings, 72 similar ratings, and 4 lower ratings.
The City also used the NCS for a comprehensive community survey in 2023. When compared to the 2023 survey, the latest results: 5 received higher ratings, 99 received similar ratings, and 19 lower ratings. The highest trending items included traffic signal timing (+17%), snow removal (+12%), and availability of affordable quality mental healthcare (+8%). The lowest trending items included the federal government (-17%), garbage collection services (-15%), and recreation centers or facilities (-14%).
“We’re pleased with the continued praise for the high quality of life we have in Snoqualmie and are committed to regularly surveying our residents to gauge city services and identify areas of improvement,” said Snoqualmie Mayor Katherine Ross. “These survey results will also help ensure that our strategic plan and city investments align with our community’s priorities.”
