City of Snoqualmie Receives Clean Washington State Auditor's Report

News & Announcements Posted on October 28, 2025

On October 27, 2025, the City of Snoqualmie hosted a Washington State Auditor’s Office exit conference during a special City Council meeting to discuss the findings of a nearly yearlong independent audit of the City’s financial presentation, controls, and procedures for January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2023.

The City is pleased to announce it received a "clean" or unmodified opinion on its Financial Statements audit, and complied in all material respects on its Accountability, and Compliance with Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) audits from the Office of the Washington State Auditor (SAO).

The SAO is responsible for holding state and local governments accountable for the use of public funds. A clean opinion is the best result a government can receive, indicating that the City's financial statements are presented fairly, and its operations complied with applicable state laws, regulations, and its own policies, and provided adequate controls over the safeguarding of public resources.

"We are incredibly proud of the results of this year's State Auditor's report," said Mayor Katherine Ross. "This clean audit is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire staff, especially our Finance Department team. It confirms our commitment to strong internal controls, fiscal transparency, and being responsible stewards of our taxpayers' dollars."

The independent audit focused on key areas including accounts payable – travel expenditures, credit cards, and health reimbursement arrangements; software conversion – general ledger and accounts receivable; compliance with state grants; account receivable – utility billing, payroll, open public meetings, and the financial condition of the City.

“The audit exit conference provided us an opportunity to not only hear the final outcome, but to celebrate the continued strengthening of our internal controls, our compliance efforts, and our commitment to transparency and accountability,” said Snoqualmie Deputy Finance Director Jennifer Hughes. “Success in these areas demonstrates the care with which we manage public resources and the high standards we hold ourselves to on behalf of our community.”

The City of Snoqualmie audit reports will be available for public review once published on the Washington State Auditor’s Office website at https://www.sao.wa.gov/reports-data/audit-reports.
