The Snoqualmie Police Department is pleased to share with the community that its School Resource Officer position with the Snoqualmie Valley School District has been fully reinstated. The position was temporarily paused in September due to staffing constraints within the department.
School Resource Officer Gutwein - who had been on light duty for three months following medical leave for a work-related injury - has been cleared for full, active duty. Since late September, Ofc. Gutwein had been serving as the liaison to the district during his recovery, working each school day in plain clothes at Mount Si High School and other district schools.
“Ofc. Gutwein has officially returned to his full-time School Resource Officer position where he will remain for the rest of the school year,” said Police Chief Lynch. “We understand the vital role the school resource officer program plays to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and faculty and are pleased to have the position fully reinstated.”
The Snoqualmie Police Department is keeping one position open as it continues recruiting efforts for a lateral police officer to permanently fill the school resource officer position for future school years.
The department is grateful for the support of the Snoqualmie Valley School District in the shared, collaborative commitment to ensuring all schools are safe and supportive learning environments.
