New Reduced Speed Limits Now in Effect through Downtown Snoqualmie

News & Announcements Posted on February 07, 2023

This week the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) installed new speed limit signs on SR 202 through the downtown Snoqualmie corridor. The installation of the signs means new, reduced speed limits are now in effect.

The new speed limits on Railroad Ave/SR 202 are:

  • Snoqualmie Falls area to Northern Street: 35 mph
  • Northern Street to Newton Street: 25 mph
  • Newton Street to south of Snoqualmie Middle School: 35 mph

In October 2022, the Snoqualmie City Council adopted Ordinance 1625, approving state-recommended speed limit modifications to Railroad Ave/SR 202 from Snoqualmie Falls through the downtown corridor.

Speed limits for this 2.5-mile stretch of SR 202 through downtown were established in 1987. The City requested WSDOT reduce speed limits through downtown Snoqualmie due to increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
