Summer is just around the corner, which means warmer temperatures, longer days, and more pedestrians out walking on sidewalks and trails.
If you’re heading out on a walk or run with your furry family member, it’s important to understand Snoqualmie’s dog leash law, which requires all dogs when off the premises of their owner to be under the control of a leash not exceeding 15 feet in length, except when confined inside a vehicle or within the City’s Three Forks Off-leash Dog Park.
The City’s leash law is in place to reduce potential negative interactions and to protect the safety of residents and their pets.
A violation of the Snoqualmie leash law occurs when a dog owner willfully allows their animal to be off their property unleashed, or when an owner, after being notified in writing by an animal control officer that their dog was found unleashed off the property, allows it to occur again.
A violation is considered a misdemeanor offense. However, police officers typically begin with public education and a warning when a violation occurs.
The Snoqualmie Police Department is launching a Leash Law Public Education campaign. Follow the City of Snoqualmie and Snoqualmie Police Department social media channels for more information.
