On Sunday, April 14, 2024, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Snoqualmie Fire Department firefighters, along with crews from Eastside Fire and Rescue and Fall City, Bellevue, and Redmond Fire Departments, responded to a large working fire in a downtown Snoqualmie retail building located at 8102 Railroad Ave SE.
The building is home to Snoqualmie Ice Cream, Chickadee Bakeshop, Snoqualmie Pie Company, and a Littlest Wishes Photography. The most significant fire damage occurred on the back side of the building that fronts Falls Ave SE. The adjacent retail buildings did not sustain fire damage.
The buildings were unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The fire was first detected at 5:07 a.m. by Snoqualmie Police Department Ofc. Corey Hendricks, who smelled smoke while on routine patrol in the downtown area and searched for the source.
The King County Fire Investigator was called to the scene and is completing a full investigation to determine the cause of the fire. It is anticipated that a portion of Falls Ave SE near the fire scene will be closed the majority of Sunday afternoon for mop up work and to complete the investigation. It is believed the fire was accidental.
Snoqualmie firefighters will remain on scene throughout the day to watch for hotspots.
