At the Oct. 24, 2022, City Council meeting, Mayor Katherine Ross swore in the newest member of the Snoqualmie Police Department - Officer Nicholas Schulgen.

Officer Schulgen graduated from the Washington State Criminal Justice Center Police Academy on Oct. 20.

Prior to becoming the newest ‘SnoPo’ officer, he served in the Marine Corp. as a military police officer and embassy guard from 2014-19. He is also currently serving in the Army National Guard.

“Officer Schulgen lives in the Snoqualmie Valley, which makes his duty to serve and protect that much more personal,” said SPD Cpt. Brian Lynch. “The community is lucky to have him.”

Officer Schulgen is going through an extensive 18-week, on-the-job field training program with senior Snoqualmie Police Dept. officers. Following completion, he can begin solo patrol duty.
