The Snoqualmie Police and Fire departments urge residents of all ages to wear helmets when biking this summer and year-round. Helmets protect against potential life-threatening head injuries.
This past weekend, a minor not wearing a helmet lost control of an e-bike and sustained injuries after a fall. The child was taken to a local hospital and released.
The City’s Helmet Ordinance requires bike riders to wear an approved bicycle helmet with the neck or chin strap fastened securely.
Other biking safety tips:
- Check Your Equipment: make sure tires are inflated and your brakes work.
- See and Be Seen: wear bright colors day or night, and/or something that reflects light.
- Control Your Bicycle: ride with at least one hand on the handlebars.
- Watch for and Avoid Road Hazards: be on the lookout for gravels, puddles, leaves, and dogs.
