Four New Volunteer Firefighters to Serve Snoqualmie as EMTs
Snoqualmie, WA – At the October 14 City Council Meeting, four new Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were awarded their helmets, giving them active volunteer status. Josh Demetrescu, Chris Feilen, Tanner Hillier, and Anna Meehan bring a broad range of experiences to their roles as EMTs.
Josh Demetrescu, who works for the U.S. District Court in downtown Seattle, grew up in Montana and moved to Washington state to attend college. For the past seven years he has made his home in the Snoqualmie Valley. He has three children. With previous agency experience, Demetrescu looks forward to volunteering with the Snoqualmie Fire Department.
Chris Feilen grew up in the Lake Sammamish area, attended Washington State University, and currently works at Microsoft as a developer. In addition to volunteering in Snoqualmie, Feilen serves as an Operations Leader for King County Explorer Search and Rescue. Chris has been an EMT for five years. He currently lives in Fall City and enjoys cooking and exploring the outdoors.
Tanner Hillier was born and raised in the Bay Area in California. In his teens, Hillier’s family moved to the foothills of the Sierra Mountains where he developed a love for mountain biking, backpacking, camping, skiing, and snowboarding. He later moved to Idaho and studied biology for two years. Hillier and his wife live in the Snoqualmie Valley.
Anna Meehan has a doctorate of audiology from the University of Memphis. She completed an EMT course at Everett Community College in December 2018. Meehan has also worked during the past two winters in communications at the Northwest Avalanche Center. Before relocating to Washington, she volunteered for the El Paso County Mountain Search and Rescue in Colorado.
