[ARCHIVED] Weekend Traffic Advisory: Westbound I-90 Down to One lane in Issaquah, Sept 5-7

Sept 2025 Issaquah Lane Closure Graphic

Snoqualmie residents should expect traffic delays if traveling on I-90 through Issaquah during weekends in September. For the first in the series of weekend work, WSDOT will reduce westbound I-90 to one lane around-the-clock, Sept. 5–7, to repair three bridges in Issaquah.

WSDOT warns drivers traveling through the area to expect significant delays during busy travel times and to consider alternative routes. Please be advised, the work requires dry weather and is subject to rescheduling.

Lane Closure Details
From 9 pm Friday, Sept. 5, to 8 am Sunday, Sept. 7, crews will close up to the left three lanes of westbound I-90 from east of the Front Street off-ramp to west of Issaquah Creek (mileposts 18 to 16), leaving one open lane for through traffic.

More work is scheduled from 9 pm Friday, Sept. 12, to 8 am Sunday, Sept. 14. Crews will close up to three right lanes of westbound I-90 from east of the Front Street off-ramp to west of Issaquah Creek. The westbound I-90 off-ramp to Front Street will also close during this second weekend lane reduction.

Additional daytime single-lane reductions on eastbound and westbound I-90 should be expected Saturday, Sept. 6, east of Issaquah.

During the lane closures, crews will replace aging pavement and waterproof membranes and repair bridge expansion joints on the left half of three bridges over Front Street North, Fourth Avenue Northwest/East Lake Sammamish Trail and Issaquah Creek.

Crews are also tentatively scheduled to reduce westbound I-90 to a single lane the last two weekends of September to make similar repairs on two other bridges in Issaquah, which will extend the useful life of the bridges that were built in the early 1970s. This work is part of a project already making pavement repairs along westbound I-90 in Issaquah.

More weekend lane reductions in eastern King County
People traveling through eastern King County should also be aware of the following weekend lane reductions:

  • Bridge maintenance crews will close one lane of I-90 in Preston between High Point and SE 82nd Street (mileposts 22 to 20) for inspections from 6 am to 11 am, Saturday, Sept. 6. Crews will work along both directions of I-90 and close right and left lanes, but they will only work in one lane at a time.
  • Up to two lanes of northbound I-405 in Bellevue will be closed from SE Eighth Street to NE 4th/8th Street from 11 pm Friday, Sept. 5, to 4:30 am Monday, Sept. 8, for paving and drainage installation. The northbound I-405 off-ramp to NE 4th/8th Street (Exit 13A/B) and the SE Eighth Street on-ramp to northbound I-405 also will close during this time.

Real-time travel information is available via the WSDOT mobile app, the WSDOT travel map or by signing up for WSDOT's email updates.
