Snoqualmie drivers should plan for extra time this weekend if traveling toward southeast King County and then again next week on westbound I-90 near Preston.

SR 18 Closure over Tiger Mountain

The Washington State Dept. of Transportation (WSDOT) will close both directions of SR 18 between I- 90 and Issaquah-Hobart Road for annual scheduled maintenance. The closure runs from 9pm, Friday, July 21 through noon Sunday, July 23.

WSDOT maintenance crews will perform several tasks during this closure, including drainage cleaning, clearing line of sight, guardrail repair, and temporary patches for potholes. Construction contractors also will perform work in the area during this closure, including drilling and surveying related to the SR 18 widening project.

Residents using SR 18 will need to utilize alternate routes and plan for additional travel time. A signed detour around the closure uses SR 169, I-405 and I-90. Detour map below.

Westbound I-90 Lane Closures near Preston
Snoqualmie drivers who use westbound I-90 between Preston and Issaquah should also plan for traffic delays as WSDOT continues a bridge deck pavement repair project in this area.

Westbound I-90 will be reduced to one lane about a mile west of Preston 24/7 from Monday July 24, at 9pm until Thursday, July 27, at 9pm. During past project work in this area, WSDOT has seen the biggest backups during the morning commute hours. To avoid delays, drivers are encouraged to adjust their commute times, work remotely, or delay non-essential trips if possible.

WSDOT expects this to be the last multi-day closure in this area required for this project. Project map below.
