[ARCHIVED] Pavement Repairs Reduce Westbound I-90 to One Lane near Preston in mid-April and mid-May

TRAFFIC ALERT INFOGRAPHIC WB 90 Lane Closures

Snoqualmie drivers should expect potential delays on westbound I-90 near Preston for two weeks in mid-April and then again in May as the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) completes pavement repairs on two bridge decks east of Issaquah.

This is continuation of work performed in late summer 2022 that caused significant traffic delays for local drivers on westbound 90 between Issaquah and Snoqualmie.

When and Where
Multi-day lane reductions on westbound I-90 east of Issaquah start Sunday, April 9, 2023, when westbound I-90 will reduce to a single lane for three to four days at two different bridge deck locations. Each project site will require two separate lane reductions – one to repair the left lanes, and then one to repair the right lane.

The first two lane reductions happen about 1 mile west of the Preston interchange:

  • 10 am Monday, April 10 through Wednesday, April 12 at 6 pm
  • 10 am Monday, April 17 through Thursday, April 19 at 6 pm

The second two lane reductions happen about 3.5 west of the Preston interchange:

  • 9 pm, Sunday, May 14, to 4 am Thursday, May 18
  • 9 pm Sunday, May 21, to 4 am Thursday, May 25

**Please note: These are 24/7 closures, not just overnight closures**

During similar repair work last September, drivers experienced significant backups in the Preston area and east, particularly during the morning commute. Those with the option are encouraged to consider:

  • Working remotely
  • Adjusting travel schedules away from morning peak hours
  • Carpooling or using public transit
