[ARCHIVED] Snoqualmie City Councilmember Matt Laase Resigns

New Release Jan 2023

On January 31, 2023, Councilmember Matt Laase notified Mayor Ross and City Councilmembers of his resignation from the Snoqualmie City Council effective immediately.

“I look forward to spending more time with those that need me the most, and that is the most important thing right now,” Laase wrote in his resignation letter.

Laase also expressed appreciation to the community, stating, “I want to thank those that have supported me on this journey and provided me with the opportunity to represent the Citizens of Snoqualmie these last 5 years. Snoqualmie is the greatest town in America, and it has been a privilege serving you.”

Mayor Ross commented, “It has been a pleasure working with Matt, both on City Council and as Mayor, and I thank him for his dedication to Snoqualmie residents over the past five years.”

Laase was first elected to City Council Position 5 in Nov. 2017 and was serving the second year of his second term on Council, a term that expires on Dec. 31, 2025.

In mid-February, the City Council is expected to adopt a timeline for seeking applications for vacant Council Position 5 and appointing a new Councilmember.

When the application period is open, the community will be notified via the City website and social media channels. To receive the application via email, please contact City Clerk Deana Dean at cityclerk@snoqualmiewa.gov
