[ARCHIVED] Laura Thorpe Wins First Place in 2022 Plein Air Paint Out

The View from Here (Watercolor by Laura Thorpe)

Snoqualmie, WA – The winner of the 2022 Snoqualmie Plein Air Paint Out competition is a watercolor piece by Laura Thorpe titled “The View from Here” painted from Railroad Park and looking toward the Snoqualmie Depot and Mount Si. It will be featured as the 2023 Snoqualmie Plein Air Paint Out poster.

Laura is a local Fall City watercolor artist. Deeply inspired by our beautiful Pacific Northwest, she often paints local scenes with natural water sources such as rivers, oceans and her personal favorite, rain. Laura is self-taught and loves painting moments of beauty and sharing the feeling that is behind them. View her work at www.LauraThorpeWatercolors.com or follow her on Instagram at _Watercolors_LT_.

Second and third place winners are Yiji Miller (Watercolor of Train) and Vinita Mohite (Oil of River).

The annual Snoqualmie Plein Air Paint Out is sponsored by the Snoqualmie Arts Commission, which welcomes artists of all skill levels and mediums to paint “en plein air” – in the open air – throughout Snoqualmie during Railroad Days.
