Shoreline Master Program

The Shoreline Management Act of 1971 requires cities and counties containing “shorelines of the state” to adopt a plan for the management of those shorelines. That plan is known as the Shoreline Master Program, and it contains policies and regulations as required by state law and the Department of Ecology.

Shorelines in Snoqualmie include portions of Kimball Creek, the main stem of the Snoqualmie River, the South Fork of the Snoqualmie River, the FEMA-designated floodway, Borst Lake (Mill Pond), and areas within 200 feet of these waterways. Due to the extent of the floodway, these shoreline areas may extend more than a mile from the riverfront of the Snoqualmie River.

Snoqualmie’s Shoreline Master Program was originally adopted in 1971, and was last updated in 2021.
