Since the tragic loss of his son to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in November 2023, Snoqualmie Fire Chief Mike Bailey has volunteered his time to the Nick of Time Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising awareness of SCA and screening the hearts of adolescents and young adults to save families from the grief his family has endured.
On Feb. 5, 2025, from 8 am to 3 pm, the Nick of Time Foundation will visit the Mount Si High School gymnasium, partnering with the UW Center for Sports Cardiology to conduct simple and quick heart screenings. The screenings are free and open to all students and young adults ages 12-24. Participants do not need to be associated with the Snoqualmie Valley School District to register.
The screenings consist of a Heart Health Survey about possible signs and symptoms or a family history of a heart condition, followed by an EKG. Participants also receive CPR and AED training. The results are reviewed on-site by experienced cardiologists and sports physicians.

About SCA
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death in young athletes exercising, happening every two days in the US. Most of those had hidden cardiac abnormalities with no warning signs until suffering a SCA.
