Fire Prevention Week 2023

At the October 9, 2023, City Council meeting, Mayor Katherine Ross proclaimed the week of Oct. 8-14 Fire Prevention Week in Snoqualmie. This year's National Fire Prevention Week theme is, "Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention.

The Snoqualmie Fire Dept. reminds residents to stay alert and use caution when cooking to reduce the risk of kitchen fires. Between 2017–2021, cooking was the leading cause of reported house fires and house fire injuries, and the second leading cause of home fire deaths, with 44% of reported house fires annually caused by cooking.

Mayor Ross encourages Snoqualmie residents to check their kitchens for fire hazards, use safe cooking practices, and support the many public safety activities and efforts of the Snoqualmie Fire Dept - during Fire Prevention Week and year-round.
