Snoqualmie has an active bear population that is encouraged by poor residential garbage practices.
It is important that residents be vigilant about storing garbage containers in garages and putting them out curbside the morning of Waste Management collection days, not the night before.
Waste Management purchases the Toter brand, which is IGBC certified, to fulfill bear cart inventory needs. Please click here to see a video on the cart they provide to Snoqualmie residents.
The Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC), a committee formed in 1983, helps ensure recovery of viable grizzly bear populations and their habitat in the lower 48 states through interagency coordination of policy, planning, management, and research. They certify/test/recommend products as bear-resistant.
Waste Management offers free bear-resistant containers upon request in 35, 64 and 96-gallon size. The collection fee is $3.62 per month. To order a bear-resistant container, please call Waste Management at 800-592-9995.
