Snoqualmie Police and Fire Departments Urge Bike Riders to Wear Helmets

Snoqualmie Police Dept. News Releases Posted on July 27, 2023

The Snoqualmie Police and Fire departments urge residents of all ages to wear helmets when biking this summer and year-round. Helmets protect against potential life-threatening head injuries.

This past weekend, a minor not wearing a helmet lost control of an e-bike and sustained injuries after a fall. The child was taken to a local hospital and released.

The City’s Helmet Ordinance requires bike riders to wear an approved bicycle helmet with the neck or chin strap fastened securely.

 Other biking safety tips:

  • Check Your Equipment: make sure tires are inflated and your brakes work.
  • See and Be Seen: wear bright colors day or night, and/or something that reflects light.
  • Control Your Bicycle: ride with at least one hand on the handlebars.
  • Watch for and Avoid Road Hazards: be on the lookout for gravels, puddles, leaves, and dogs.
