Can cross-connections be avoided?

High hazard or unnecessary cross-connections are to be eliminated whenever possible. Unavoidable cross-connections (for example, fire sprinklers and irrigation systems) must be protected with a Backflow Prevention Assembly commensurate with the degree of hazard.
